The formation of the land market during the expansion of the frontier of Buenos Aires: Chascomús and Juní­n, 1860-1890

Abstract

In this paper we analyze the formation of the land market during the expansion of the frontier province of Buenos Aires, between 1860 and 1890, from a local approach to comparative research, focusing on two areas: Chascomús and Junin. We postulate that the constitution of the land market in the Buenos Aires province was a gradual process that began only when theland defended by forts were populated and established certain security guarantees for private property
